    Movie Monday

    December 21st, 2009

    We haven’t done one of these in awhile.

    Here’s some bath-time joy for you guys 🙂

    Movie Monday

    November 9th, 2009

    It’s still Monday in our neck of the woods, so this counts 🙂

    Here’s G “walking” to his toy bin. I put walking in quotes there because he’s not consistently taking 5 steps or more in a row, and that’s when I can officially count it. He does 3 on his own before he plops over. So here without further adieu is G’s walk.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTs4oSCwZMI]

    We can’t quite tell if he’s excited about the walking part or the slamming himself against the toy chest part. Well at least he’s having a good time.

    Uhmn… G has a mobility update:

    It’s not true walking, yet, but we’re getting there!

    Movie Monday

    September 27th, 2009

    The first story of our home has a step down off the hallway to the living room and dining room. It’s a bit strange really, but while it works for adults, it’s a little hard to navigate for little crawlers.

    For awhile the multi-level part of our home was actually a good thing — it was an “invisible” barrier for G that kept him from doing things like 1) frolicking around Neko’s litter box (located in the downstairs bathroom); 2) pulling out every shoe in our shoe cubby. Alas that barrier has now been broken and G’s done each of the things listed above.

    We have gates for the stairs leading up to the second floor, but the step down into the living room is so wide that there’s no way to block it off. So the only thing we can do is teach G to maneuver this on his own. Luckily he figured it out on his second try. I’m proud of my little man!

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS_Bqm-N_oQ]

    Of course with all of this, keeping him out of places keeps getting exponentially harder. I’m especially concerned about Neko’s potty as the last thing I want is to find a scoop-full of kitty litter in G’s mouth 😮 I’m seriously considering installing a kitty door in the downstairs bathroom. The only problem? At the moment the cat and the child are both the same size — making a whole big enough for Neko, means plenty of access for G. Sigh (and grr)! Note to others: Maine Coon cats (as beautiful and amazing as they are) are not child proof!

    Movie Monday (and playing ball)

    September 20th, 2009

    G has a new word (making his dictionary now 3 words rich): Ball. Although he doesn’t quite finish the “ll” sound, so it sounds more like “baah”.

    Here he is playing ball w/ Auntie S. He actually says ball twice in this clip if you listen carefully: at the 3rd throw to S, and at the very end.

    Yey, for interactive-fun babies!

    Movie Monday (uhmn… he walks!)

    September 6th, 2009

    Ok, I take it back. My kid is now officially cruising AND taking his first supported steps. This morning… nada. Then we went to a playdate where G’s friend M was running circles around G. I should mention that M is but a week or two older than G. I guess G was feeling a bit behind, because when we got home he decided to try out some of M’s moves. Thanx M!

    I stood there with my jaw agape with my hands over my mouth (tearing up mind you) as I watched my munchkin push and step with his car. Then it hit me “Camera’s right there, Record! Record! Record!” So here are a few precious moments of G walking.

    PS. Don’t you dig his new shoes? They’re on sale at Amazon right now!

    Movie Monday

    August 30th, 2009

    While I gather up my thoughts of the whirlwind that’s been this past week-end, I thought I’d post something a little more slow-pace. This is a video of G waking up in the morning. I want to get it out for posterity because I find it hilarious.

    First of all, G’s inherited S’ “wake-up” genes. In other words, IT.TAKES.FOREVER!!! Mornings are just a bear to get him going in the morning. I do my best not to startle him, and having learned from S go as slow as I can. However, we have a schedule to keep in order to get everyone out of the house (and to daycare/work) on time, so there’s only so much leisure we can get.

    Pardon the period of sheer blackness here. I was stumbling for the light.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeYUI-bbB74]

    Just think what I have to look forward to when 1st grade starts! Care to pity me?

    The irony to all this, is that I wake HIM up between 6:20-6:30 on week-days. Doesn’t he look like he could sleep for another hour? However, sure enough, come week-ends he’s up and rocking the crib by 6:35. I think it’s called “Payback!”

    Movie Monday

    August 16th, 2009

    It’s 2 for the price of 1 day. Enjoy the G sale ;p

    First up, is the “I eat all by myself” video. Last Wednesday G surprised S and I by reaching for a yogurt melt I had in my hand and putting it in his mouth… on his own. Then he did it again. Worried I wouldn’t see that moment again for weeks (he’s done that to us before) I ran to get the camera and G was nice enough to oblige with a few more shovels of melts.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zuZAKtij5I]
    [PS. you really only have to watch the first 30 seconds here]

    What’s cool is that now he REALLY wants to feed himself. He went from “Nah, I want to be serviced” to “No, I wanna do it!” in a matter of days. He’s also now an expert in shoveling stuff in his mouth (provided the food is not slippery and squishy… like peas). He also prefers whole food now over jars, which is a little sad for me given the fact I still have about 20 jars of food left. Last, he’s big into eating whatever I’m eating. This morning we had a small screamfest ensue because I took a bite out of a bagel while I was holding him in my lap. Apparently not sharing was a punishable offense. Bad mamma! I tore up some bagel into chunks and he was a happy boy. He even enjoyed a few bites with a wee-bit of cream cheese too.

    Next up is G’s new-found way to get around. He really digs his walking toy, but hasn’t really gotten into walking yet. So now he pushes it doing the “knee walk”. It’s cute!

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKphXptNHjI]

    Today he also stood up holding onto a stair. He also managed to get into a downward dog pose from a crawl. We’re a few weeks away from him getting into a stand on his own… I think. With him I never know though. He seems to take forever to illustrate a skill. Yet at the same time he does within a day or two he’s a master at it. So slow on the uptake, but he hits the ground running (although I hope that isn’t literally what will happen on the walking phase). Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the knee walking 🙂

    Movie Monday

    August 2nd, 2009

    Today’s theme: When the crib’s a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qszL2h3dL3Q]

    For those of you curious what those things are at the base — that’s the Lullabub (see post here). One of it’s side-effects is that now as an older baby G gets to rock himself to sleep, or into a party tizzy. Either way, self entertainment is good — gived us a few more minutes of sleep on the week-ends 🙂

    Movie Monday

    May 25th, 2009

    Boy are you lucky — you get 3 for the price of 1 today 🙂

    We went to the Zoo today. Of all the things we saw, G liked the swings at the Zoo playground the most.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYOGraC7VgU]

    G had the hiccups earlier this week. You know how “they” say to try to scare hiccups away? Yeah, that only makes G laugh.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDjHl_FPjzY]

    G has a Sofie (the Giraffe) of his very own and he’s figured out how to make her squeek.
