    Movie Monday

    June 27th, 2010

    G has this game: he takes an old (and empty) tube container, and stands it up on end. He then takes one of his balls and balances is on top, and then likes to topple over the tube & the ball by hitting it with another. He can do this for quite some time, giggling the whole way through.

    Brother. Or butter. G’s having one of those. Not sure which though.

    Last week-end, we went swimming with A, R and R. While the day was gorgeous and perfect for a swim, the pool itself was one of the coldest I’ve been to in awhile. G asked for “Up Pease” a couple of times, yet when we did try to get him out of the pool, he refused to leave. Little R had the right idea and refused to go in, in the first place. Yet, our dude was happy to let his lips go purple with R’s mommy holding him just so he can get some extra water action. Oh, and yes, I braved a bathing suit this pregnancy around. I refuse to shell out mega bucks for a maternity suit, so I’m bearing LOTS in a bikini.

    Movie Monday

    G is really liking his blocks these days. He’s managing to stack them up pretty darn high too. I love watching him finish what he set out to do. He applauds himself with pride. It’s pretty cute. What’s even cooler is how much he’s maturing. Three weeks ago if his top block tumbled he would crash the whole structure down. Now he’s more patient and tries again. The part that amazes me is how symmetrical he likes to keep things. Is it a little early to worry about OCD?

    Thanx to Becoming-Mom we decided to introduce G to his first at-bat baseball experience. Honestly for S and I that’s like the blind leading the blind, since we both suck/know little of major sports, but G had a good time. Bat, wooden dowel? What’s the difference? Toilet paper holder vs. t-ball set? Eh, it works just as well. Plus G is cackling and having a jolly old time.

    Mom and Dad might not be much in the way of exercise these days, but G’s making it up for the 2 of us. Here’s the little man doing leg lifts. He’s amazingly strong. Have I mentioned that before? Kid is gonna have a six-pack by the time he’s 7.

    Movie Monday

    March 22nd, 2010

    S bought G a little step-stool. It’s a blessing and a curse… trust me. G is now able to climb up on the couch with ease… as well as my computer chair… and the TV stand… and well you get the idea 🙂

    Movie Monday

    Here’s some park-time fun for you guys.

    Wee, slides!

    He is SUCH a boy!

    March 2nd, 2010

    There are many things G does that I can fully see myself in. And then there are others that I just don’t know where they come from. Take his latest car toy interest. S got a big box of his own childhood toys this week-end. In the bunch was a set of small toy cars that G immediately took to. He just knew what they were and what to do, and has been “driving” them around tables, chairs and couches since then. S didn’t show him how to play with them, and I can promise you I certainly didn’t!

    I wonder if they have little toy cars in daycare.

    Movie Monday: Wee!

    February 21st, 2010

    And when I say “Wee!” I’m really only repeating after G : it seems to be his new expression. S moved the swing from our back yard to inside our house. He rigged it up under our stairs. The man is brilliant, what can I say. G had the saddest expression staring at his swing getting wet on our latest stretch of rainy days, so S moved it in. My contribution to the swing contraption was the addition of a rope so I can sit on the couch and still swing the boy. Sure, you may think “Lazy!”, but I think “Look, I can fold laundry AND keep my kid happy at the same time”

    No, you don’t get the “Wee!” on this video, but you can see the stair/swing in action 🙂

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRTNUGdOMiU]

    Mr. C at daycare has been teaching G to do knuckles. He’s got the “Hi-5!” mastered and has moved on to cooler expressions of male bonding. However, because he knows the camera is for your benefit, and he’s no trained monkey, you don’t get to see it either. ARG!

    Now HERE is a good “Wee!”. But you have to wait ’till the end.

    G can also throw a mean ball (also spoon, piece of chicken, or any object). He has excellent accuracy when hurling things at your head. Here’s G playing catch with my dad… and hitting me square in the cheek-bone with a tennis ball. No, I don’t have a bruise, but I’d be shocked if by the end of this year I don’t have a black eye on account of my kid.

    Movie Monday

    February 7th, 2010

    Here are the origins of the Baby Movers company G will be founding. It’s also gives ME a great insight in how S actually accomplishes his chores. At this rate, S will have to hand over his allowance to G — only those that do the work get the goodies.

    This is how toddlers get into chairs. Sliding in. Face first. Please observe how proud he is of himself in the end.

    Movie Monday (Aka Brush’em, Brush’em, Brush’em)

    February 1st, 2010

    AKA Miracle of Miracles!!! This is G brushing his teeth. Miraculous for two reasons:

    1. he’s doing it himself (well… sorta)
    2. he’s tolerating a toothbrush in his mouth!!!

    Yeah, this is the child that just spit out any toothbrush offered to him. And yet, here we are with him thinking this is fun. I actually give full credit to my new dentist for this. At my last appointment she gave me an electric toothbrush for the munchkin. Shaped like a fire-truck, thank you very much. So G out of curiosity let it in… and he let it stay. Now we tag team brushing teeth. I go in first w/ the firetruck, and he follows up with his little brush.

    The other day when S and G went up to G’s room for a didy change, they were upstairs for awhile. When I asked what happened, S told me they had to take a detour to the bathroom because G wanted to brush his teeth!

    Ok, ok, in reality he just likes to suck the water of the bristles, but there is some contact with his teeth and it’s a good first step.

    Thank you new DDS!

    Movie Monday

    January 25th, 2010

    G now plays a good game of “Come and get me”. It goes something like this: find an activity you know you are NOT supposed to do (in this case make dents in the coffee table with a wooden toy peg), make sure mom & dad see it, devilishly laugh, and then run away giggling.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7VBZHzFYo8]

    And this, my friends, is why you can’t get much done with a toddler around.

    Movie Monday

    January 18th, 2010

    We’ve taught G to show us his belly button.

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRH_x72Aado]

    It’s super cute when he shows you his belly!

    Yesterday he also pointed to his nose… only to immediately afterward stick his finger in there and dig around. Yeah, we won’t be showing you video of that one.
