A year in review
I found myself walking around the house today thinking back on this past year. I can’t say I’ve ever done that before, and I’m really going to look back on this year and remember it very fondly.
- We kicked off the year still living high off of our BFP announcement.
- In January, we tested the capacity of our house (and electric paneling) by hosting a fondue party for 40 (yeah, you read that right). It was a blast and really an good excuse for me to OD on stuff dipped in chocolate and cheese (not at the same time, I assure you).
- We found out that our friends A&B were also expecting. This was super, super cool since we 1) like them a ton; 2) live close by; 3) love the idea of sharing family milestones together.
- Completed the last of our must-do-pre-baby home renovations.
- S switched roles at work. We now share the same title and vent to each other about similar issues nightly, over dinner.
- We had an amazing trip to Europe in May. We toured Italy and attended the fabulous wedding of our friends S&C. We visited my family and had shared some bitter-sweet moments with my grandparents.
- We were showered by the love of our family and friends in anticipation of G’s arrival.
- We met our son.
- We realized we’re a Honda family by buying our second car.
- We had some unforgettable visits with S’ parents, his sister and my family.
- I was reminded that I am yet another year older by finding my first gray hair (although I’m starting to think it may have been a delivery hormone fluke since I haven’t seen any more since)
- We Celebrated G’s first Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
I also stared at G a bunch today. I still marvel at how it’s possible to love someone so much. I just want to hug him into itty-bitty pieces.
I’m not sure what I’d like for the year ahead. I genuinely feel content and want for nothing. All I can wish for is for G to keep growing healthy and our families to remain to good health.
Here’s hoping 2009 will be as awesome as 2008!
Happy New Year!
I hope I’m lucky enough to feel this way about a year just passed someday.
