    Monterey Bay Aquarium

    March 31st, 2011

This is a small photo dump from my trip down to Monterey with G a last month (or was it the month prior?). It was a loooong drive. I hadn’t been there in years, and let me tell you, 2 hours with a toddler in the car makes a car journey seem longer than it would be otherwise. He did pretty well, but still, spending your day sitting in a vehicle for 4 hours is not his idea of a good time.

He dug all the fish though and really got a kick of watching all the scuba divers doing feedings. His favorite was watching the sharks be hand-fed (well wand-fed, really). I was just happy I was on the other side of the shark-infested glass 🙂

    Foto Friday

    March 18th, 2011

Yeah, I’ve kind of slacked on the photos thing, so I’ll be catching up over the next few days. Here’s a bunch to get ya’ started. S2’s 3m photos w/ Kelly M Photography.

I can’t say that G was being particulatly cooperative that day. You see, while we were calmly trying to sit for photos, we had a flash of toddler behind us at all times. While I’m glad to know that he’s not discriminating solely against MY lens, I now fear that we’re cursed with a period of few good family shots together. Arg!

    Movie Monday

G trying to whistle. Why does he always have to pick the hardest thing to start with? Neither S nor I know how to do the two-finger whistle

    Sick

    February 27th, 2011

3 out of the 4 bipeds in our home have been claimed by a cold. The only one not (seemingly) yet affected has been S, and I’ll be harassing him to get himself an Airbourne IV drip at this point. The progression of said cold seems to go something like this:
    Day 1: scratchy throat
Day 2: full on raw throat, congestion/sinus pressure and low grade fever. The latter two work in unison to scramble your brain.
Day 3: better throat, congestion and congestion’s resilient friend: cough Day 4: better throat still, still congestion, worse cough. Although I’m only at the start of day 4, so ask me later

I don’t know which of the kids I feel sorrier for: S2 because he’s so little or G who tells you when it hurts. All 3 of us seem to be at various days of the cold.

Looks like today will be a proclaimed pajama, bed and Dinosaur Train day.

Neko’s new favorite nap spot (although last week he was pretty partial to one of S2’s clothes bins)

    Chillin’ with the daddy

How is this not the most peaceful sleep ever? It hurts to have to wake him

    Fascinating!

    Child loves to floss. Wierdo!

Why toddlers need PJs at night

    February 23rd, 2011

G taught us this morning why it’s important for toddlers to wear pajamas at night. In short, it keeps their beds dry. Let me tell you how we got from “no PJs” to “weee!”

Step 1: Have your toddler outgrow their jammies. G (until yesterday) has still been in 18m footed sleepers. However, he started complaining about them feeling a little tight, so I pulled out the 2Ts.

Step 2: Have your toddler complain about the new jammies being too big… and take them off all on his own.

Step 3: Allow your toddler to go to sleep w/o any jammies. I thought that this could be a good lesson for him. No jammies = cold evening. I was fully prepared to go and dress him in the middle of the night. Little did I know his IKEA bedding would not only keep him warm, but get him hot enough? to inspire him to go commando.

Step 4: Go to sleep, where unknownst to you…

Step 5: … have toddler remove his diaper in the middle of the night and…

Step 6: … pee all.night.long. [cue cheesy Lionel Richie music] All night. All night lo-ong.

I came back into our bedroom this morning after nursing S2 to get myself dressed. I spotted S in bed and said “Babe, it’s time to get up, it’s almost 7.” S only responded “I have a naked boy in bed with me right now.” While I was in the nursery, G had woken up and went to our bedroom. I wasn’t too shocked to hear that he had cuddled up with S. However, I just thought S meant that “naked” = down to the diaper since that’s what G calls it. Nope. Naked naked. Birthday suit naked.

This child loooves to run naked. It’s his favorite past-time around bath-time. I swear, come his teenage years, we will be the parents that are called when a wily teenager decides to streak the school cafeteria. Sigh.

So… one guess as to who’s doing laundry today.

    Our little Superman

    February 11th, 2011

Amazing what a blanket can do.

G immediately proceeded to rescue our printer from the shackles of baby-proofing equipment, and my scanner power button from the loneliness of not being turned on/off 20 times in immediate procession 🙂

    Huh?

    February 6th, 2011

G was going crazy jumping on our bed this afternoon, swatting, and throwing things. After many times of me asking him to stop, I took S2 (who was in my arms the whole time) and walked away into the nursery. S2 and I, then, sat in the glider. About 2 minutes later, G sheepishly waddled over and asked to cuddle too.

So he and I proceeded to have the following heart:

Me: G, why don’t you listen to me?
    G: Huh?

    Touche, child, touche!

S2’s first day at daycare: on the way

Bouncers. Apparently, good for kitties too.

Little readers: one of the cutest things ever. They just curled up to each other.

I am the moon, and G is the sun

Cupcake eating is a competitive sport around here. If you don’t eat yours fast enough, G comes after it (even though he has his own).
