They belong together
July 7th, 2016Taken 20 minutes apart:
Yeah… I say they’re a good match
For Mother’s Day, S2’s class did an interview with each kid asking them about their mom. This (the age of 4) is probably the last year the answers are endearingly, innocently funny. For example, S2’s responses are as follows:
As you can see, I am 8 years old. I’ll take that over his classmates volunteering ages in the 60’s π
Today (as I was scanning the latest batch of artwork) S was reading this and asking the boys their own version of this interview.
S: G, what is something you and mommy like to do?
G: Read to me!
S: S2, what about you? What is something mommy and you like to do ?
S2: Snuggle!
G: Aw, man! Nice one!
Yep, that’s right kid! Your brother scored a winner. Yours was pretty good, too, though. So not too shabby π
My phone camera has been in some desperate need of clean-up, so I’m going to be following up with some much needed photo posts π Some will come in related chunks. This is more of the Hodge-podge. Enjoy!

The boys had their first sleep-over two week-ends ago. I have a friend who lives in Gilroy, and really wanted to try Rock N Jump with us some Saturday, and to spare them the drive I offered up a sleep-over. It was our first, and actually worked out pretty decently. The living room floor was the kid sleep zone, and while S2 did in fact sleep with his new buddies, G2 opted our bed. It was a good, non-windy summer evening (a little rare around our parts) so after-dinner treat ended up being smores on the fire-pit⦠whose calories were instantly burned by 4 kids running laps around our yard.
So there you have it. I grabbed my camera mid way because people were just being sweet, and quite frankly I just hadnβt in a while π
So… that last picture? No comment?!?!
Why do I fall for it? Why do I fall for thinking having a 3yr old in my bed all night is a good idea? He comes out all pout-y from a bad dream, clutching a pillow and blanket that melt my heart. I let him in. I think to myself: I miss this. I love this, as I wrap my arm around him and bring him close.
Only for those 5 minutes of conscious contentment to be followed by 4.5 hours of being kicked in the head, abdomen and any other accessible body part his feet can reach, as he thinks putting his feet on the pillow is the proper way to sleep. And that no matter how many times I wake to rotate him around, he reverts to upside down sleeping. He settled down at 4:30am after going to the potty in MY bathroom, insisting I get up to turn the light on for him, and then redress him in the obnoxiously difficult Spiderman jammies.
This morning, I woke up feeling like a zombie. He, on the other hand, meanwhile, looked like this:
So why do I do this? Why do I fall for it? Ah yes, that’s right: because he’s cute. And it won’t last forever. And I will miss it.
I guess my bed has a vacancy again tonight.
We went to the beach with my parents last Saturday afternoon. I had imagined a lovely golden sunset, with sun in my kids’ hair as they fooled around with their Grandma and Grandpa. Not so much. I forgot that HMB this time of year is all about fog. So we got a lot of that and crab hunting. Surprisingly Pomponaio beach had no shells to find, but plenty of bird-picked crustacean carcass. It was cold, and windy. We didn’t last long. But it was worth the try π
